There are two sides to the coin when it comes to thinking - Critical and Creative. Critical thinking, in its simplest form, is the ability to think clearly and rationally. It is constantly asking yourself whether you view situations and events accurately and whether the conclusions you arrive at are logical. On the other hand, creative thinking is the ability to look at things differently. It involves finding new ways of solving problems.

In a club, both critical thinking and creative thinking are vital. To be an effective manager, both skills must work in tandem with problem-solving and decision-making. The former is essential in narrowing down the root causes of issues when faced with decisions based on careful and comprehensive analysis. While the latter creates other possibilities for addressing the issue by thinking outside "the square". It could be said that critical thinking narrows and creative thinking expands.

•   Critical Thinking – Understanding the elements and traits of critical thinking, along with models and processes to help make critical thinking part of your managerial approach and style.
•   Creative Thinking - Consider ways to expand your thinking, look outside conventional methods and find new ways to solve problems. 
•   A Combined Approach - Getting the balance right and recognising that critical and creative thinking must complement each other and co-exist in a club environment.
